John O' Groats Trail - Dunbeath to Barriedale

An afternoon walk heading south along the John O' Groats Trail.  I did not quite make it all the way to Barriedale as I cut across the fields to be sure I could catch a bus back to Dunbeath (Otherwise it would have been a 2 hour wait for the next one).

The John o' Groats Trail is a Scottish long-distance walking route from Inverness to John o' Groats, traversing back lanes, footpaths, shorelines and cliff tops of the Scottish Highlands.

The trail is in use but is still a work in progress. Work began in March 2015. All of the route is walkable, and many sections of the coastal route are walked frequently by local walkers as well as long-distance walkers. However, work is ongoing to bring the trail up to the usual standards for walking trails.
