Northumberland Coast path - Craster & Dunstanburgh Castle

Craster is a small fishing village on the Northumbrian coast of England. It has a small harbourand offers a view northwards along the rocky shore to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle.

Craster kippers are well known in England. The local herrings are smoked in a traditional manner by the Robson family.

Dunstanburgh Castle is a 14th-century fortification. The castle was built by Earl Thomas of Lancaster between 1313 and 1322, taking advantage of the site's natural defences and the existing earthworks of a former Iron Age fort.
