A 9 mile hike in the North West fells, taking in Grisedale Pike (791 metres / 2,595 feet) and then on to Hopegill Head (770 metres / 2,530 ft). Returning back through the Coledale Valley.
The start of the climb includes views to Skiddaw, Keswick and Derwent Water. The view from the top of Grisedale Pike is comprehensive with the Cumbrian coast in view to the west and the Pennines seen in the distance to the east.
The summit of the Hopegill head is a small pointed peak poised on the edge of Hobcarton Crag giving wide ranging views. The Isle of Man is seen on clear days, as are the Scottish Border hills.
