St Ninian's then the ferry to Aberdeen

Shetland day 28 - the last day

With the ferry leaving at 5:30pm,  I decided to return to St Ninian's beach and Isle to spend the day. Four weeks previously there had only been a couple of other people there, but this time not only were there lots of cars and motorhome visitors but also a few bus loads of cruise ship excursions. I escaped the crowds by walking around the island and the bus trippers were gone by lunch time.

It was a clear evening for the start of the ferry trip leaving Lerwick at 5:30, and then passing Fair Isle he southernmost Shetland island, situated roughly 38 kilometres (20+1⁄2 nautical miles) from the Shetland Mainland) at around 7:40. Then we passed The orkney islands as the sun was setting around 10pm.

The top of the perfect trip, the sea mist lifted as we arrived in Aberdeen at 6:30am.
