Rosguill Peninsula, Melmore Head, Murder Hole Beach

Ireland day 5,6,7

First few pictures of my arrival on day 5 in the sunshine and exploring Gortnalughoge Bay, next to the camp site.

Day 6 was rain all day so a chance to rest and sit in the van reading

Day 7 started with a hike around Melmore Head and a visit to Murder Hole Beach.

Boyeeghter Strand or Boyeeghter Bay, commonly known as Murder Hole Beach, is a beach situated on Melmore head in County Donegal, Ireland. It has cliffs, hills, dunes, and small caves. When the tide is in there are two beaches, which merge into one when the tide is out. The common name of the beach, Murder Hole Beach, is rumoured to originate from the 1800s, when a young woman reputedly fell from a cliff near the beach. Other reports suggest that the name is derived from how the dangerous currents make swimming perilous.
