Walla Crag, High Seat, Ashness Bridge

A hike taking in Walla Crag, on to High Seat (608 metres) and then down the fell to Ashness Bridge.

High Seat is the highest point for about 5 miles in any direction.

The summit is set on a small rock platform with an Ordnance Survey column. The views are extensive due to the central location and a lack of higher neighbours. The Helvellyn range is seen end to end, together with a panorama of high fells on the other side of the ridge from Crinkle Crags in the south to Blencathra in the north.

Ashness Bridge is a traditional stone-built bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road to Watendlath. It is famous for being a fine viewpoint across Borrowdale towards Skiddaw
