Little Assynt Estate

Tuesday. Monday was a washout.

In November 2000, the Little Assynt Estate, a 2,900 acre estate at the western end of Loch Assynt came onto the market. Two thirds of the estate had recent plantings of native broad-leaved trees. With help from the Community Land Unit, Millennium Heritage Fund and Scottish Natural Heritage, CCWT campaigned successfully to raise the funds to purchase the Estate for the community. The Trust has subsequently built an award winning all-abilities path at Leitir Easaidh and, with a team of local people, has started construction of a wider path network which will enable families and those who are less able to access the wild and beautiful land on the Estate.
