Knapdale coast walk - Port Ban to Port Cill Maluig

A walk along a 3.5-mile stretch of the wild west coast of South Knapdale in Argyll & Bute, just north of the Kintyre Peninsula. The route passes a series of quiet beaches and sheltered bays, with open views across the Sound of Jura towards the Isle of Jura.  The return followed a quiet road back to the start, offering a different perspective on the same landscape.

Loch Lomond to Knapdale Peninsula

An early start to catch the calm of Loch Lomond at Milarrochy Bay before a drive west to Knapdale Peninsula, Argyle.

Includes a stop at the Rest and be Thankful view point so named as the climb out of Glen Croe is so long and steep at the end that it was customary for travellers to rest at the top, and be thankful for having reached the highest point.

Milarrochy Bay, Loch Lomond

A one night stopover on the shore of Loch Lomond before I head west. Milarrochy Bay is on the east shore of Loch Lomond near the village of Balmaha. Known locally as Bakey Bay, due to the rounded mounds regularly on display.
