Wirral Country Park & Thurstaston

Overlooking the river Dee towards Wales is the Wirral Country Park. I remember being here over infamous hot summer of 1976 and the ground was all dry and breaking up. Strange some of the memories you have.

Across the road is Thurstaston Hill, an area of wilderness and amazing red sandstone.  Here you can also find Thor's Stone - a weather (and child) worn sandstone rock that I used to climb as a child (except I seem to remember calling it the Jelly Rock rather than its real name).
