Parkgate & Neston

Wed 8th June

Parkgate used to be an active sea port with trade ships carrying trade from Ireland. However, changes in the River Dee have seen it now overlook a vast grass marshland.

Parkgate and neighbouring Neston is where my Grandparents grew up and first "stepped out" (to quote my Grandad).

Neston has the claim of being the birthplace of Nelson's Mistress, Lady Hamilton.

The picture below is Neston & Parkgate parish church. But this is not just any chruch, oh no. This is the church where my Grandparents, My Parents and my Sister all got married.  It also has some notable stained glass windows (apparently) by someone called Edward Burne-Jones.
