Walk to the CIC Hut, Ben Nevis

The Charles Inglis Clark (CIC) Hut is a mountain hut on the north face of Ben Nevis, owned by the Scottish Mountaineering Club, providing accommodation and a base for mountaineers accessing challenging climbing routes.

Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Scotland, the United Kingdom, and the British Isles. Ben Nevis stands at the western end of the Grampian Mountains in the Highland region of Lochaber, close to the town of Fort William.

The summit is 1,345 metres (4,413 ft) above sea level. My walk took me to a max height of 620 Metres, so not quite half way up the mountain. Rather than continue on the path into the clouds covering the summit, I took an alternative route which took me below the north face, a massive, towering rock face, over 600 metres high.

Steall Falls and the Nevis Gorge

this short route heads through the dramatic and Nevis Gorge and leads to the Steall Falls. They are the third highest falls in Scotland, cascading 105 metres down the rockface.

The first set of pictures are from my journey south towards Fort William with views over Loch Loyne and Loch Garry.
